2-Day Refresher – First Aid at Work (FAW)

This 2-Day Refresher First Aid at Work course is designed for individuals who already hold a recognised First Aid at Work qualification and need to update their skills, knowledge and confidence in delivering first aid in the workplace.

The training reinforces core emergency first aid principles, explores recent best-practice guidance and ensures delegates remain competent in managing a range of common workplace injuries or sudden illnesses.

This 2-day refresher is ideal for people who have already completed an approved FAW certificate and want to update their training before it expires.

Course Overview

The course revisits essential emergency first aid topics and updates delegates on current practice. The syllabus includes:

Assessing an emergency situation and managing an incident safely
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and use of AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
Managing choking in adults and children
Recognising and responding to major bleeding and shock
Treating minor injuries such as burns, cuts, strains and sprains
Responding to sudden illness (heart attack, stroke, seizures, diabetic emergencies)
Recording and reporting first aid incidents

Training is delivered using a mix of tutor-led discussion, hands-on practice and realistic scenario work to boost practical confidence in real-world situations.

Delivery & Format

Classroom-Based Training

Two full days of in-centre training delivered by qualified first aid instructors.
Interactive learning with practical demonstrations and supervised skills practice.
Group exercises to simulate workplace first aid situations.

The refresher maintains the structure of a traditional First Aid at Work course but revisits material to ensure knowledge remains current and aligned with recognised first aid standards.

Assessment & Certification

Successful delegates will receive a refresher certificate upon completion.

Certificates from this course are valid for three years from the date of issue when delivered by an approved training provider in line with Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations and recognised first aid standards. Delegates can use this certificate to demonstrate compliance with workplace first aid requirements.
