Category C+E (Class 1)

Designed for experienced drivers who have a current driving licence and would like to drive an articulated vehicle.

Route to gaining Category C+E licence:

  • LGV Medical – Attend an LGV medical and have a D4 Medical form completed by a GP
  • Licence Application – Complete D2 licence application and send to DVLA along with the above D4 medical form.
  • Theory Tests – Pass Hazard Perception and Multiple Choice theory tests.  Both theory tests can be booked by clicking here.
  • Practical Training – Complete intensive practical training with our DVSA registered instructor.
  • Practical Tests – Pass practical reverse and driving tests.

Course Objective:

The candidate will be expected to learn the way to drive, manoeuvre, reverse and park a large goods vehicle in a number of varied situations. Perform routine safety checks, maintenance and inspections.

Course Content:

  • Introduction to the course

  • Basic manoeuvres
  • Safety checks
  • Maintenance inspection
  • Driving
  • Reversing
  • Coupling / Uncoupling
  • Practical tuition

Duration: 5 Days

Ratio of 2 trainees per instructor per lorry.

Practical driving test on final day of tuition.
