The initial ADR training course spans over 5 days, Monday to Friday, with the exams taken on the final day. The ADR Training Course includes Core, Packages and Tanks modules, as well as the 7 standard danger classes.

The 7 classes are detailed below:

  • Class 2 – Gases
  • Class 3 – Flammable Liquids
  • Class 4 – Flammable Solids (substances liable to spontaneous combustion and substances that, in contact with water, emit flammable gases)
  • Class 5 – Oxidising Substances and Organic Peroxides
  • Class 6 – Toxic and Infectious Substances
  • Class 8 – Corrosive Substances
  • Class 9 – Miscellaneous Dangerous Substances and Articles

Definitions:

Packages: (other than in tanks) means any goods that are not carried in a road tanker or tank container.

Bulk: (packages regulations), dangerous goods not in packaging, such as Skips or Tippers.

Tanks: Tanks and Tank containers, any goods carried in a road tanker or tank container. This course includes 28 hours of Driver CPC periodic training.
