Class 7 ADR – Radioactive Materials Training
Transporting radioactive materials on UK roads requires specialist qualification under the ADR regulations. The Class 7 ADR course gives drivers the focused training they need to safely handle, transport and comply with the strict legal requirements for radioactive goods.
Who Should Attend
This course is designed for:
- Drivers who intend to carry Class 7 radioactive materials
- Drivers adding the Class 7 module to an existing ADR qualification
- Drivers renewing or refreshing a current Class 7 ADR licence
- Transport professionals responsible for planning or supervising radioactive goods movements
Participants must already hold the ADR core module qualification before attending this specialist class — Class 7 cannot be taken on its own without ADR core (new ADR entrants can complete Class 7 alongside the core module on a 3 day course).
Course Overview
The Class 7 ADR course is a specialist, one‑day training programme that concentrates specifically on the transport of radioactive substances. It has been developed to meet the requirements set out by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and the ADR syllabus for radioactive materials.
During the day, delegates will explore the key aspects of moving radioactive goods safely, including:
- Understanding radioactivity and ionising radiation
- Recognising and interpreting ADR marking and placards
- Requirements for packaging
- Regulatory duties for drivers transporting Class 7 loads
- Emergency procedures in the event of an incident
- Practical compliance systems used on the road
The course prepares delegates for the Class 7 exam, which consists of multiple‑choice questions at the end of training.

Why Complete Class 7 ADR Training?
Achieving a Class 7 qualification:
- Meets legal requirements to transport radioactive materials under ADR
- Enhances safety awareness and compliance assurance
- Provides evidence of competence for DVSA and enforcement visits
- Helps organisations expand their transport capabilities to specialist goods
As with all ADR licences, delegates must renew their qualification every five years to stay compliant and up to date with regulatory changes.
